Foday Kanyi currently works for ActionAid International, The Gambia, a Human Rights Organization fighting for poverty eradication and injustice as the Programme Manager Resilience, Livelihoods and Climate Justices. He provides overall coordination, monitoring and providing technical support on climate change impact, adaptation, food security, livelihood alternatives, participatory vulnerability analysis and promotion of climate resilient sustainable agriculture through training and farmer-managed demonstrations of new innovations and farming systems. He generally provides expertise on capacity building/training for various stakeholders including smallholder farmers especially women.
 
He also doubled as Core Humanitarian Standard, Accountability in Emergency focal point. Foday has also worked for different developmental institutions for over 23 years, especially on rural development with more focus on women smallholder farmers empowerment. He recently concluded the implementation of EU funded 36 months project on Agro-ecology and eco-restoration programmes in southern central river and North bank regions of The Gambia in 30 communities.
 
Educational Background:
Holds Master’s Degree in International Cooperation and Humanitrian Aid from Kalu Institute, Spain, Thesis on Women Leadership in Humanitarian Response, Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture from Atlantic International University, and General Certificate in Agriculture from Gambia College. I had a short-term training from University of Western Cape, South Africa, Certificate of competence on Political Economic on Land Governance in Africa. 
 
Previous work experience:
Prior to joining ActionAid, I served as a Extension Field Co-Ordinator & Disasters & Emergency focal Point with Methodist Mission agricultural programme focusing on Monitoring and supervision of extension activities and general coordination of livelihood improvement project and disaster and emergency activities, I also worked with International Trypanosomiasis Center (ITC) as  Project Field Coordinator and main duties and responsibilities: are Coordinate field staff on data collection and compilation on socio-economic important of livestock production in Western Region of The Gambia

Included Certificate in SHEA and Safeguarding, Certificate on Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) to development;  Certificate in Gender and crosscutting approaches, Certificate in Development and cooperation, Certificate in Climate Change and Sustainable Agriculture,  Certificate in Climate Resilient Sustainable Agriculture (CRSA), Certificate on a training programme on SHERE Project , Certificate on a training programme of Economic Literacy & Budget Accountability for Good Governance etc. Participated in research by University of Stellenbosch University (Research Alliance for Disaster and Risk Reduction (RADAR) on Strengthen Urban Resilience in Africa, Promoting Rights in Schools Framework development and implementation, Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) and Participatory Vulnerability Analysis.
